Emergency Conversations

June 18, 2007 by schmiddy

Two actual conversations I overheard in the emergency waiting area of a hospital:

“I didn’t realize the knife was so sharp…”

and

“Apparently he had chest pain for weeks before…”

Both sounded so cliched they somehow stuck in my memory.  Hope whoever was involved made a full recovery.

Portland

June 18, 2007 by schmiddy

This weekend we went on our first roadtrip with Cate to Portland. Sharon and I have been talking about going down here for a while so it was good to finally do it. We stayed downtown and spent most of our time wandering around the Pearl District and Nob Hill – both very cool areas. We both think Portland’s great.

Cate was awesome the whole time, considering she spent about 8 hours each day in her car seat. She seems not to notice lots of noise in restaurants and cafes which is good for Sharon and I :) We visited the Rose Garden this morning before heading back to sunny Seattle.

Baby cards

May 25, 2007 by schmiddy

Just a quick thank you to all the wonderful people that sent through cards and gifts for Cate.  I haven’t had time to respond to you all personally, but expect a special something in the mail very soon (uh oh, now the pressure is on).

Im Back

May 25, 2007 by schmiddy

So you thought this blog was dead eh?  Well it’s time to post again.  Let me bring you up to speed on what’s happened since my last post:

Nov 25 2006: Sharon and I tied the knot in Sydney.  We flew back for (what ended up being) four weeks.  The wedding was brilliant and thanks to all our friends and family from near and far that attended (there were actually quite a few that travelled further than Sharon and I).

Feb 28 2007:  Sharon and I moved into our new house in Seattle (Kirkland to be exact)

Apr 15 2007: Our daughter Cate Louise was born.  She is now almost 6 weeks old and is the cutest thing you have ever seen (but I’m totally biased)!  She is totally amazing.  We’ve had both Sharon’s and my parents come and visit in the past few weeks which has also been very special.  More baby posts to come.

So there you have it – wedding, house and baby all within 6 months.  I really recommend you spread it out a bit more if you’re thinking of doing the same thing :)

Hallow Eve

October 31, 2006 by schmiddy

Like most things in American culture, Halloween has been completely over-commercialized to the point the any semblance of the original Pagan tradition is long forgotten. It amazes me the amount of money and time people invest in costumes, decorations and other Halloween related paraphernalia. The funniest thing Sharon and I have seen was a guy at our gym growing a beard for the last 3 months just so he could look like Wolverine from X-Men – crazy!

Microsoft

October 5, 2006 by schmiddy

I was reading some interview with Scoble and he mentioned something about Microsoft using blog-search engines to find anyone who wrote the word ‘Microsoft’ on their blog.  So I thought I’d see what happened if I did!
