Million Dollar Baby

Another boxing movie. Unlike Rocky, the hero is a female and there isn’t a happy ending. Standard performances by Eastwood and Freeman – they can do those types of roles in their sleep. It still amazes me that Clint is doing the music score for his movies these days. 3/5

Finding Neverland

Some people may have thought that JM Barry was on something when he created the world of Neverland for Peter Pan. Finding Neverland brilliantly (but not accurately) sets the record straight. Without going into the “it brings out the kid in all of us” cliches, this is a really great film, simple and uncomplicated. Excellent performances by all the cast especially Johnny D. and Ms Winslet (apparently one of the young boys will be starring with Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!). Far too subtle to be considered a “kids” film. 4/5
