These google guys really have too much time on their hands. They have translations for BorkBorkBork, Klingon and (my personal favourite) Elmer Fud. Better still, you can volunteer to help translate any public pages that are yet to be translated!
A couple of weeks ago Sharon and I decided to head down to Buffalo for the day. It’s interesting talking to Canadians about Buffalo. In the day, Buffalo was considered “the big smoke” and Torontonians would clamber down on their weekends to check it out. I get the feeling the was a LONG time ago, cause now most Canadians just think it’s a hole.
We went down there for one reason – to check out the FLW (Frank Lloyd Wright) houses that were built in the boom time (the early 1900’s). Getting down there was pretty easy, but crossing the border was a bit painful – I sometimes wonder why the Americans make such a big deal about anyone crossing their border!? I had written the address of two of the houses on the back of a piece of paper before leaving, and without any maps this proved quite a challenge to find any of them. We ended up seeing 4 of the 6 main houses. All were fairly close to each other, and all were totally brilliant. I’ll post some photos next time I empty my camera.
All in all it was an ok day – Buffalo didn’t seem that bad – it seemed fairly clean and it was easy to get around (mind you we never strayed out of what seemed to be an upper class white area). We didn’t have any Buffalo Wings, but then you can buy Buffalo Wings from any reputable eating establishment in Canada
Well the flights are booked – we are off to London (England that is, not Ontario) from May 11 to May 23! We are going to stay at Lyndal’s place and hopefully hook up with anyone else we know that’s currently in the UK (Pacman?). We are planning to head up to Scotland on the first weekend which should also be good fun.
Well, let’s face it – I haven’t posted in a while, so I thought it was time to crank the blog again!
For those that have been reading the site recently, you may have noticed that I got lazy and started posting movie reviews. I will now explain why this happened. For those people lucky enough to survive a Canadian winter (during the months of November to March), unless you are interested in hockey or hockey related activities, shopping, skiing, building snowmen, renovating shovelling snow or complaining about the cold, there isn’t a hellava lot to do. For Sharon and I, we found ourselves watching movies. Not just a couple of movies mind you, but probably five movies a week at one point. So, seeing as I wasn’t doing much more than watching movies, I thought it was reasonable to post movie reviews!
But seriously, we’ve also done a few other things over the past few months, some of which I will detail in posts over the next few days.
